Fire has destroyed a 33kV earthen transformer at the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) Achimota Bulk Supply Point (BSP) at Abelemkpe in Accra.
Personnel from the Abelemkpe branch of the Ghana National Fire Service were at the scene to control the fire.
The service men prevented the fire from spreading to other installations at the station.
Residents in the area revealed they heard a loud blast followed by flames.
A call was then placed to the Fire Service who arrived at the scene to control the fire.
The cause of the fire which started around 3:55 pm has not yet been established.
Meanwhile a investigations are underway to determine the cause of the outbreak.
