Residents at Sefwi Bekwai, in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, have expressed shock after a baby girl believed to be two weeks old was found dead Monday dawn, January 23, 2023, on a refuse dump.
Kwaku Bawah, a Zoomlion employee who discovered the baby, explained that he went to the dump site to dump refuse only to find a baby’s leg wrapped in a cloth.
He revealed that he raised an alarm, attracting neighbours to the dump site, only to discover that the baby had already died.
Kwasi Prince Tano, Assemblyman for Anorku Electoral Area, who witnessed the shocking incident, reported it to the Sefwi Bekwai District Police Command.
Some of the residents have asked the Police to investigate the matter and bring the mother to justice.
They argued that the act by the unknown mother was heartless and unfortunate.
