Contrary to the explanation by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that the change in leadership of the Minority Caucus was a strategic decision, political analyst Michael Ebo says it was about power play.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah has explained that the decision to replace Haruna Iddrisu with Cassiel Ato Forson was a strategic decision aimed at helping the NDC secure power in 2024.
But Michael Ebo Amoah has shot down that claim stating without mincing words that the change was a way to prove a point and show Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak where power lies.
He stated that it was obvious that this would happen given Haruna Iddrisu’s statement denying that the Minority Caucus had endorsed Asierdu Nketiah prior to the NDC’s executive elections.
“This isn’t a strategic choice. It is simply someone who wishes to demonstrate to the other where power resides. It is someone who wants to show off their political clout. Why were Ahmed Ibrahim and Comfort Doyo kept? If that’s the case, why were these two kept?”
In an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM’s Frontline, he stated that Ato Forson, as opposed to Haruna Iddrisu, is not the right person to represent the NDC in parliament.
He stated that the NDC required an all-rounder to represent its interests in parliament at this time and that Ato Forson, while exceptional in the economy, lacked the qualities required to be an all-rounder.
