Ato Forsin, the newly appointed Minority Leader, has asked President Akufo-Addo to reshuffle his ministers to reflect our current economic condition as a country.
Addressing the public for the first time since his appointment on Tuesday, the Ajumako-Enyam-Essiam MP said the government cannot demand Ghanaians to sacrifice and support the debt exchange programme and yet refused to reduce the size of the government.
According to the legislator, Ghanaians have made several requests to the President to reduce the size of the government to reflect the mood of the country.
”You are asking people to forgo their coupons or interests, you are asking the ordinary Ghanaian to sacrifice his payout and so, if his excellency the President intends to reshuffle his government, let it be known that we [Minority] will not accept an attempt to increase the size of the government. If the current size of his ministers increases by one, that one person will not receive our cooperation.”
He also announced that as part of engagements with the Finance and Health Committees of Parliament, they have agreed to conduct a public hearing of the Covid-19 expenditure beginning February 7, 2023.
”At that point, we will pay due diligence to the duties given to us by the people of Ghana…We will also go on a roadshow where we will educate the people of Ghana and educate them on the meaning of what this economic crisis is going to take us to.”
