The Paramount of the Nsien Traditional Area in the Nzema East Municipality, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, has admonished President Akufo-Addo to deploy experts and technical persons to explain the domestic debt exchange programme to Ghanaians.
The traditional leader said for Ghanaians to understand the programme, objectives, and what it intends to achieve, the government must allow only experts and professionals to speak on it.
He made the remarks at the Jubilee House when he led some other traditional leaders to pay a courtesy call to President Akuf-Addo.
They were at the seat of government to extend their gratitude to the President for giving the Western Region its fair share of the national cake.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the President to allow those with the technical know-how and knowledge to explain issues.
“The exchange programme necessitates specialised knowledge. You would be unable to explain the issues if you lacked the necessary expertise. You will need experienced people to carry out the programme. Although the program’s intention is good, it has caused controversy. You have technical men and experts, so we request that you use them to explain the debt exchange programme.
These experts should be deployed to the regions to explain the programme to Ghanaians. There is a lack of understanding, and the best solution is to deploy expects to explain the programme.”
President Akufo-Addo, for his part, stated that his administration is committed to restoring economic confidence.
He stated that Ghana has completed all of the steps necessary to reach an agreement with the Fund.
He said that the restructuring programme was essential and that Ghanaians should support it.
