A member of the campaign team of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, former trade minister, has described as bogus the recent survey that has predicted victory for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Collins Owusu-Amankwah, the former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North who made the claim, stated that the survey lacks credibility, authenticity, and the tenets of good and valid research.
Speaking in an interview with Kwabena Agyaponbg on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he alleged that the survey was designed and conducted by the Office of the Vice President.
He has, therefore, challenged the faces behind the research findings to be bold and come out and defend the research findings.
As the preferred candidate among delegates, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to win the New Patriotic Party Presidential primaries and lead the party in the 2024 presidential elections.
Outcomes International Ghana and the Centre for Sustainable African Development Initiatives (C-SADI) UK conducted a survey of delegates.
The month-long survey was conducted collaboratively by the two firms between November 15th and December 15th, 2022.
According to the survey, nearly 90% of delegates believe that a candidate’s religious affiliation is unimportant when choosing a flagbearer. The study was conducted in all 16 regions of the country, with a target population of approximately 197,000 NPP polling station executives (PSEs).
But the campaign team of Alan Kyerematen says it is a bogus survey and should not be taken seriously.
“The bogus research conducted by the so-called research group in the UK is invalid. The media must expose them. They lack the necessary skills for research. That bogus research was created by the Vice President’s Office.”
Mr. Owusu-Amankwah stated that as a research student, he would be the last person to dismiss research. However, the one predicting Dr. Bawumia’s victory in the primaries is not based on research.
“It was well tailored to a specific agenda. I dare them to produce proof of the defendants they spoke with.”
