The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has advised feuding factions in Bawku to stop exchanging fire with military officers.
This was contained in a statement issued by REGSEC following the allegations that some military officers sent to Bawku to maintain law and order killed seven residents, which they have subsequently denied.
Chairman of the Security Council, Stephen Yakubu, speaking to journalists admonished residents in Bawku to remain calm and give peace a chance for the town to thrive.
“I want to appeal through this medium that let’s give peace a chance because Bawku is virtually dying and I am very concerned.”
