DO3 Peter Adei, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, Ashanti Region, has advised Ghanaians to install early warning and detection systems in their facilities to alert them of potential outbreaks.
According to the fire officer, this could help address the region’s and the country’s overall outbreak rate.
He advised homeowners and other individuals to take fire safety precautions seriously.
He stated that new technologies can assist in the collapse of a burglarproof in the event of an outbreak, allowing them to escape.
He was speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
He said one should not only think of security but safety so that while you put in measures to prevent burglars from entering your facility, you would also have safety measures to help you escape an outbreak.
“We need to use smoke detectors or early warning signs in our homes and facilities,” said DO3 Peter Adei. Fire starts small, so we need fire extinguishers to see if we can stop it after we’ve called the fire station. We should also search for the emergency numbers of fire stations closer to us so when there is an emergency, we can call them”.
