The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute, has described as idiotic the statement made by Suame National Democratic Congress Youth Organizer (NDC) of Suame, Razak Kaumpa.
According to him, the comments made by the NDC officer do not reflect the values of the late John Evans Atta Mills, who was known as the Asomdweehene.
Razak Kaumpa, the National Democratic Congress’ Suame Constituency Youth Organizer, was detained by police after being turned over by the party’s leadership.
The suspect, who was accused of inappropriate behaviour, is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
Reacting to the issue Koku Anyidoho said ”that statement was idiotic statement or the spirit of idiocy took over him to make that unfortunate state’.
He said the NDC officer said alarming things, including the fact that the NDC would win power at all costs, and it has nothing to do with the bible.
“What that meant to me was that he disparaged Prof. Mills’ efforts that won us power in 2008. What was President Mills’ message? He preached peace. He was even given the title Asomdweehene. Ghanaians named him Asomdweehene because he was a man of peace. He was godly, so when he won, he dedicated his presidency to God. We’ve been in opposition before, and the message we crafted for regaining power was based on Asomdwee, which is how they gave us the mandate.
When they renewed the mandate in 2012, they hoped that the Asomdwee policy would continue. Whether it continued or not is a different story.”
“I feel very abused if this young man goes on to insult my religion, my faith, my bible, and the work that President Mills helped us do to gain power. What is the alternative if it is not the Bible? When the national anthem says, “God bless our homeland Ghana,” and the pledge says, “so help me God,” all of us, regardless of faith, believe in a supreme being known as God. What are you on about?
What made Koku Anyidoho sad was that the young man claimed the new national executives, led by Asiedu Nketiah as chair, were behind them.
Meanwhile, he has commended the Suame branch of the NDC for responsibly handing over the Youth Organiser to the Police.
”It is heartening for the Executives not to have defended the indefensible – a positive sign. If we want to reach the hearts and minds of the electorate, we must re-tool our ways.”
