Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has eulogized the late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu Twasam.
The second gentleman of the land paid tribute to the late Ghana International Christian Atsu who died in Turkey following the earthquake that struck them some 12 days ago.
The Vice President led a government delegation to receive the late player whose mortal remains arrived in Ghana on Sunday.
Atsu played for Hatayaspor.
He was trapped under rubble for almost two weeks following a simultaneous earthquake that plunged Turkey and Syria Monday, February 6, 2023.
He was discovered Saturday, February 18 lifeless.
Dr. Bawumia in his address said “The tragedy that occurred in Turkey about a week ago is one that was devastating and we anxiously and nervously prayed that our brother Christian Atsu will be found alive. We hoped against hope for everyday that passed. We prayed and prayed. But alas, when he was found, he was no more”.
Dr. Bawumia quoted the Holy Bible saying: “From him, we came, and to him shall we return.”
He assured the bereaved family that their departed member would be given a befitting burial.
“We pray that the soul of Christian Atsu remains in the bosom of the Lord,” he concluded.
