The bereaved family of the late Christian Atsu has set March 4, 2023, to observe the one-week celebration in his memory.
The decision resulted from talks among Atsu’s family, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the Sports Ministry at the player’s family home.
Evans Bobie, Deputy Minister of Sports, led representatives from the GFA and the Sports Ministry in expressing condolences to the bereaved family.
On Saturday, February 18, Atsu was confirmed dead after spending 12 days under rubble as a result of the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria, killing over 47,000 people.
The remains of the 31-year-old were flown to Ghana from Turkey on Sunday.
