Labour party Peter Obi has insisted that his party won the Nigeria presidential election but was robbed of victory.
The candidate who placed third in the fiercely contested polls said his party is prepared to prove in court that his supporters were “robbed” of victory.
Addressing a press conference, Peter Obi who came third said: “We won the election and we will prove it to Nigerians”.
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the ruling APC party the winner.
He garnered 37% of the vote whereas Peter Obi came third with 25%.
Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition PDP came second with 29%.
Peter Obi described the polls as “one of the most controversial elections in Nigeria’s history”.
“The good and hard-working people of Nigeria have again been robbed by our supposed leaders whom they trusted.”
Per the electoral laws in Nigeria, Peter Obi has
21 days from the day the results were announced to file a petition at the appeal court.
