The Kaneshie footbridge, which allows for safe crossing, is now revealing deadly cracks and rusted iron bolts, putting the lives of thousands of pedestrians in danger.
The bridge’s concrete floor has also developed frightening holes.
The bridge has become weak as cracks have formed, making it difficult to hold for support.
Rainbow Radio’s Nhyiraba Kwabna Asirifi reported from the scene that the situation has scared users, who are demanding that the cracks be repaired immediately.
Traders who sell on the footbridge expressed concern about using the bridge, fearing it would collapse.
Some of the traders who spoke with him stated that the footbridge that serves as a pathway for ordinary citizens – whether traders or commuters – appears to be abandoned by the authorities, despite the consequences. Others alleged that the cracks had been there for several months with nobody paying attention to them.
