A lecturer and political strategist, Michael Ebo Amoah, has declared that President Akufo-Addo will soon declare Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his favourite among those seeking to contest the presidential primaries in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He revealed that the president is torn between his vice president, Dr. Bawumia, and Dr. Afriyie Akoto, the immediate past Minister of Agriculture.
“Everyone knows that President Akufo-Addo is torn between Vice President Dr. Bawumia and his childhood friend Dr. Afriyie Akoto.”
”But the point is that the former agric minister is no longer in the race. He is not part of those tipped to win.”
According to him, the former minister was using his position to sustain his relevance, and after resigning, he lost that relevance.
“Obviously, the president endorses Bawumia, and this is not news,” Michael Ebo Amoah continued. This isn’t news because this is the guy who has been with him since 2008. He [Bawumia] gave up his professional career to partner Nana Addo, and they lost in 2008, 2012, and 2016″.
He said it is also because of President Akufo-Addo that is why some persons are in support of Alan Kyerematen ”because these people believe that when Bawumia is elected president, the same persons who worked for Akufo-Addo would be the same people who would work for him [Bawumia]”.
He was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
He recalled former President Kufour endorsing Alan, so Nana Addo endorsing Bawumia would not be surprising.
Meanwhile, he says the endorsement from Nana Addo could affect Bawumia either negatively or positively.
