Prosper Harrison Addo, the Ghana FA’s General Secretary, and non-Executive Council Member Sheikh Tophic Sienu were found guilty of contempt of court.
The two were sentenced to one day in prison and fined 2000 penalty units (GH24,000 each).
The contempt case was filed by Ashanti Gold after the FA proceeded with the 2023/23 Betpawa Premier League despite an interlocutory injunction imposed on the season.
In the event of a default, both parties were sentenced to 14 days in prison.
A day’s imprisonment means that the sentence is served once the fines are paid and the presiding judge adjourns for the day.
The judge adjourned the hearing before midday, and both Prosper Harrison Addo and Sheikh Tophic Abdul-Kadir Sienu promptly paid their fines, avoiding any real jail time.
