The government, through the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, has implemented the Digital Transport Fee as a tax on all rides.
Individuals who use ride-hailing services would be required to pay 1 as a digital transport fee on all rides.
The guidelines for digital transportation services were previously introduced in accordance with the Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority Act.
According to the government, these guidelines were created to ensure that operators of digital transportation systems follow the law, maintain high safety standards, and provide quality service to passengers.
According to the policy, a per-trip fee will be reviewed on a regular basis based on the DVLA’s market analysis and other parameters.
To ensure the safety of passengers, drivers, and other road users, ride-hailing companies are expected to follow appropriate guidelines.
