Ghana Para Athlete, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has called on the Ministry Of Youth and Sports, National Paralympic Committee to come to his aid in support of new equipment.
Nkegbe won Gold for Ghana in the 10 km Road Race in Man open Masters division, with a time of 25.36s, in the just-ended 2023 Desert Challenge Competition in the USA.
Speaking to Rainbow Radio, Nkegbe reacted when asked about his next target after winning gold in the 2023 Desert Challenge Competition in the USA, said:
“To be honest, my next goal is to win gold at the Africa Para Games in September and raise the Ghana flag high.” But in order to compete at the highest level, I need a new wheelchair.”
“I will be very happy if the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Paralympic Committee invites me and hands over a new wheelchair to me because Ghana has never purchased my racing chair in the past twenty years since I began racing; everything has come from corporate bodies and individuals.”
“It’s about Ghana and what we can all do to help grow the country we love,” says Botsyo, who is also appealing to corporate entities and Ghanaians for assistance. Let us support the train and Botsyo in their quest for gold at the Africa Para Games in September and the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. He went on to say.
