Bofoakwa Tano has made a triumphant return to the Ghana Premier League after spending over a decade outside the top flight.
The Sunyani-based secured a ticket to play in the 2023/24 season of the Ghana Premier League after beating Eleven Wonders 7-6 in a penalty shootout in the playoff at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
The victory means Bofoakwa Tano FC have emerged as zone One champions of the 2022/23 Division One league and has returned to the Ghana Premier League after sixteen years.
“It’s been a long time since we had a premier league team in Sunyani so I am really excited about this achievement,” Abubakar Fuseni, Bofoakwa Tono coach said:
Giving his assessment of the game, losing team Eleven Wonder’s coach, Lokosu Mensah known as ‘Lions’ said, “My boys gave their all, they fought to the end but this is football full of surprises”
“If things are put into place correctly, we can bounce back next season.” He added.
Bofoakwa Tano joins Heart of Lions and Nations FC for next season’s Ghana Premier League campaign.
