Four people are in a critical condition following an explosion in central Paris, the local mayor has said.
The blast took place in Rue Saint-Jacques in the fifth arrondissement of the French capital.
The facade of one building has fallen on to the street as a result of the explosion and several buildings have caught fire, images on social media show.
Numerous police forces and firefighters are on the scene.
