Despite the assertions of some persons, AshantiGold coach Thomas Duah believes that nothing has changed in the management of football in Ghana.
According to him, there are various difficulties plaguing Ghana’s football administration.
For him, the football administration under previous Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi was far superior to what we are witnessing today.
He stated that Mr. Nyantakyi consulted frequently during his term, particularly with those at the grassroots level, to obtain ideas and information to better administer football in Ghana at all levels.
When asked if he supported Kurt Okraku’s retention as GFA president, he urged people with ballots to vote carefully.
According to him, he has no vote, thus those who are eligible to vote should vote for him if they honestly believe he has done something great to merit another term.
“If they truly believe everything is well, they should vote for him. I don’t have a vote to decide if he deserves another term. But if those who are obligated to vote believe that everything was well under Kurt Okraku, they should vote for him again.
I swear to God, lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi had previously visited me. As a former GFA President, he frequently came to us for advice on how to best run football administration in Ghana. He came to the local coaches to see how we were doing and what he might do better. I was at home at the time when he (Nyantakyi) came to see me. He was accompanied by Fred Achie (Fredrick Acheampong).”
