The presidential health advisor, Dr. Nsiah Asare, has revealed that three contractors working on the government’s Agenda 111 project’s construction of health facilities have been fired.
He made this announcement on Thursday, June 29, 2023, during a press conference on the status of construction projects in Trede, in the Ashanti Region.
He told journalists that the current administration remains committed to providing high-quality healthcare facilities, which necessitates taking decisive action against contractors who fail to meet the required standards and perform their contractual duties, resulting in the termination of these contracts.
“We have terminated the contracts of three contractors due to non-performance and failure to meet the required standards. As we have indicated, we will not compromise on the standards of these hospitals and the construction timelines which is why we have moved quickly to terminate the contracts of these contractors,” said Dr. Nsiah Asare.
He stated that the termination demonstrates the government’s commitment to upholding strict standards and holding contractors accountable for their performance.
Dr. Nsiah Asare revealed that, of the 111 projects planned, 88 are currently underway and making significant progress.
He concluded that the facilities will include, among other things, state-of-the-art surgical theatres for maternity, obstetrics and gynaecology, male, female, paediatric, and isolation wards.
Aside from these amenities, the hospitals will house doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
