‘Black Meteos failed to qualify to next stage because they were not paid a pesewa’ – Sources

July 7, 2023
Ghana-v-Guinea

Information received by Rainbow Radio’s sports desk has disclosed that the Black Meteos’ failure to qualify for the next stage of the U-23 AFCON was due to a lack of motivation.

The details indicated that the players refused to commit to the tournament because they had not been paid what was due to them.

According to sources who spoke to the sports desk, the players have not been paid their qualification bonuses for the matches they played during the tournament’s qualification stages.

Following a disappointing draw against Guinea last week, Ghana’s Black Meteors were eliminated from the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

The deadlock means Ghana is out of the competition and will also miss out on qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The players have been chastised for their poor performance in the tournament.

However, it has been revealed that they refused to be dedicated because they were not paid their qualifications and winning bonuses.

The players reportedly stated that they were not willing to be injured while on the pitch because they had not been paid.

At the time of publication, the players had yet to receive their winning bonuses and other benefits.
