Sampson Asare, popularly known as Coach, 22, is accused of sodomising a 3-year-old boy at Twifo Nkwankyemaso in the central region’s Twifo district.
Mr. Kwaku Gyamfi, the victim’s father, stated that they live in the same neighbourhood as the suspect at Twifo Nkwankyemaso.
According to him, the suspect frequently visited him and played with his son, but he had no idea he was planning to do this with the minor [name withheld].
He went on to say that his wife, who went to Assin Gangan with the victim to vote in the recent Assin North by-election, called him to complain that their son was not feeling well, so the father instructed his wife to take their son to the hospital, where it was revealed and proven that someone had anal sex with him.
Mr. Gyamfi then asked his wife to return the child to Twifo Nkwankyemaso, where investigations determined that Sampson Asare, a labourer for the chief in the community, was responsible.
The chief of Twifo Nkwankyemaso was accused of preventing the victim’s father from reporting the crime to the police and instead resolving the matter at his palace using his traditional system.
Chief Nana Albert Adam Abudu (II) has since denied the allegations and requested that the public ignore the allegations.
The suspect has since been arrested and is in police custody.
