The Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has informed members that the midyear budget review would be read on July 31, 2023.
In his address to the House this morning, he stated that, in accordance with leadership and the Finance Ministry, the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, is scheduled to appear before the House on Monday to submit the midyear budget statement.
The house will not meet tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26th, 2023, due to a national event organised by the Church of Pentecost.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Speaker, lawmakers, and other dignitaries are expected.
This is the second time the mid-year budget review has been rescheduled.
The presentation was originally scheduled for July 25 but was moved to July 27.
The Second Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu said this when he presented the business statement for the ensuing week in Parliament in Accra on Friday, July 21, 2023.
“The committee also took into account a formal communication from the Finance Ministry that the mid-year budget review will be presented on Thursday, July 27, 2023, instead of Tuesday, July 25, 2023, as announced by the business committee,” he stated.
He had expressed worry that the rescheduled date is in contrast with the directive of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin that the mid-year budget review budget be presented on July 25.
