Minister of Communication Ursula Owusu has declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), needs a competent candidate to represent them in 2024.
She said the 2024 polls is a crucial one and as a party, they have to elect a candidate who is also credible.
It is for this reason she voted for the Vice President.
Speaking to the media, the Minister said “I am focused on casting my ballot for my preferred candidate and I am sure other delegates will also do that”.
When asked what special qualities she looks out for in a candidate she answered saying she prefers a candidate who is competent, a unifier and someone with concrete policies that will make the party win the 2024 presidential election and beyond.
She strongly opined that all these qualities are in Dr. Bawumia and that is why she voted for him.
To her, the party must come out stronger and formidable after the primary so it will retain power.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has admitted to voting for Dr. Bawumia.
The minister told journalists at the NPP headquarters that the process has been credible thus far.
She emphasised the need of the party being together after the primary in order to break the eight-year jinx.
To her, Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate who can win the NPP’s presidential election in 2024.
