A political historian, Professor Osei Nana Piesie Anto, has opined that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should not treat the resignation of Alan Kyerematen as a joke.
He said the resignation of Alan Kyerematen would have a serious political impact on the party.
He noted that his resignation could affect the prospects of the party in the 2024 general elections.
The historian indicated that Alan felt it was his time to represent the party, considering his sacrifices to the NPP.
But that promise was not upheld by the party, and that was why he had to resign from the party and contest as an independent candidate.
“Alan was promised that he would be the next presidential candidate, but he was swerved, and someone is being pushed by the party. That is why he has resigned and declared himself an independent candidate. He feels betrayed and is of the view that his quest to be president has been truncated by the NPP.”
He said the leadership of the New Patriotic Party is pretending as if Mr. Keremanten cannot create political difficulty for them.
He also warned voters that they may engage in a skirt and blouse vote, especially in the Ashanti region.
