Presidential candidate hopeful in the upcoming November 4, 2023, presidential primary, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, has disclosed that several party members are disgruntled.
The former minister of agriculture made the remarks after expressing concerns about the party’s prospects in the upcoming 2024 election.
He lamented that the party will struggle to win the 2024 general elections because several party members are dissatisfied.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto made comments during a media interaction in Kumasi, ahead of the November 4th delegates’ conference.
According to him, he is the only candidate who understands the concerns of the party’s supporters and will address them if elected.
“It’s clear to me that morale is extremely low.” The expectations of our activists across the country for a better life have not been met, so the NPP is not in a good position to compete for power again next year, and we must address this issue seriously.”
He stated that the NPP’s welfare and prosperity are inextricably linked to his leadership, citing his deep understanding of ground-level problems gained as a Member of Parliament in Kwadaso, Kumasi.
“Anyone who aspires to carry the NPP flag should prioritise that.” I have a very clear understanding of the issues on the ground; I was a member of Parliament at Kwadaso, so I understand the concerns expressed by activists on the ground.”
