Assin Central: 310 polling station officers declare for Veep and complain of intimidation

Some 310 New Patriotic Party polling station executives in the Assin Central Constituency have declared their support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential primary on November 4, 2023.

On October 5, 2023, the group held a press conference to declare their support for the Vice President, emphasising that he is the only competent and credible candidate who can ensure victory in the 2024 presidential election.

The convener for the group, Mr. J.Y., who is the polling station organiser at Adweso Mepeasem, explained that they decided to support Dr. Bawumia because he has distinguished himself.

He stated that they have been moved by Dr. Bawumia’s policies and vision and are determined to vote for him on November 4.

Nothing else, he said, would persuade them to change their minds.

He claimed they had not benefited from their MP, Kennedy Agyapong, who is also running in the primaries.

The most painful aspect, he adds, is that some people outside the party are enjoying the good of the party in the constituency rather than those who are working selflessly day and night to ensure that the New Patriotic Party’s good reputation and integrity are maintained.

Meanwhile, he has complained bitterly about intimidation by some other candidates against those who have declared their support for Dr. Bawunia.

“We are being intimidated and threatened because we have declared our support for Bawumia,” he explained. We are 310 people, but only the right ones are at today’s press conference.

The reason for this is that we are being threatened for declaring Bawumia. Those of us here came because we are not afraid of intimidation, but others are, and they may come.

He expressed disappointment that, despite their long-term service to the party, they have not received any form of appointment, including ministerial and board positions.

Chairman Ralph, the Wurakese polling station chairman, and other delegates have confirmed their decision to support Dr. Bawumia for the New Patriotic Party’s journey.

They believe Bawumia is competent, credible, and dedicated and has made significant sacrifices for the NPP, making him the only candidate capable of breaking the 8-year jinx. No other candidate can change their minds.
