Ghana’s Black Princesses took a giant step after beating Guinea-Bissau 3-0 in the first leg of the FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifiers on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
The Guineans, who were playing at home at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau, were no match for Yussif Bassigi’s team, which cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory ahead of the second leg in Accra.
The first half was more of a close contest between the two teams, as the Success Ameyaa goal made the only difference.
Ghana returned in the second half with more steel as they added two more goals to put the game to bed.
Strikes from Mary Amponsah and Mercy Atobra sealed a delightful 3-0 win for Ghana at the end of the 90 minutes.
The return leg of the tie will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 14, as Ghana fights to secure qualification to the tournament to be hosted by Columbia in 2024.
