Newmont Ghana Gold has pledged more jobs to Ghanaian youths, especially in the communities where they operate, especially in Ahafo, Bono Region.
According to Newmont Ghana, they will be working with consultants and other social investors to explore viable economic opportunities that will create more employment for the communities.
Public Relations Officer of Ahafo Newmont Ghana Gold, Samuel Osei, made this revelation while engaging with local contractors at the company’s annual general meeting in Sunyani, Bono region.
Samuel Osei said they have created employment opportunities since they began operations, but they want to do more by investing in small local business ventures.
“Our goal is to make sure that the Ahafo community and Ghanaians at large are benefiting from the mining activity that we are doing. We have given out scholarships and built infrastructure in this community, and they are all part of the things we are doing to benefit the community.”
“Though we have created employment in the past, this time around we want to expand the scope of employment opportunities in the country, so we are going to meet all the small businesses in the community to see how best we can help them expand for them to be able to employ more people,” he said as aired on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
