The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected the Cape Coast Sports Stadium as a venue for group stage matches in the ongoing 2023–2024 Champions League.
Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC submitted the venue as their home venue for the CAF Champions League group stage campaign.
Though Mauve and Yellow used the same Cape Coast Sports Stadium for the CAF Champions League qualification games, they have been told that they cannot use the venue for the group stage campaign.
According to reports filed by Ghana Soccernet, CAF rejected the venue as it doesn’t meet the minimum requirements to host top continental games.
Medeama is requested to select a venue from among the stadiums approved by CAF to host the group stage phase and knockout rounds of the CAF inter-club competitions in 2023–24.
As it stands now, Medeama’s only choice is to go to Kumasi, as the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is the only venue approved by CAF to host top international games.
