The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 9,000 people have been killed in the Strip since 7 October.
According to the BBC, this includes 3,760 children. More than 32,000 people have been injured.
Since Hamas killed over 1,400 Israelis and kidnapped over 200 more, Israel has bombarded the area with air strikes.
Israel’s military claims it is targeting Hamas infrastructure, such as tunnels and rocket launchers while minimising civilian casualties.
On the ground, five major battles are taking place between Israel and Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip.
More civilians are reportedly leaving Gaza through the Rafah crossing today; the UN reports that over 400 people left yesterday.
