Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has accused pro-New Patriotic Party newspapers of cooking up stories about who will partner with former President John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 presidential election.
He stated that the move was part of their deceptive plot to divert attention from former President John Mahama’s widely accepted 24-hour economy policy.
He said the 24-hour economy comes with 3-shifts in a secured and safe environment by providing participating companies with security patrols, tax incentives, and cheaper power for night shifts through Time of Use (TOU) tariffs.
This policy, among others that have received acceptance, he noted, has created tension in the government and the NPP, and because of that, they have plotted to publish false stories about who will be selected as Mahama’s running mate to divert attention from these policies.
He also disputed media reports that the presidential candidate of the NDC has disclosed that his running mate would be a man or a female.
“JM has said nowhere that his running mate will be male or female. Neither has he said anywhere to any group that he will go with or not go with his running mate for the 2020 election. What he has said is that he will announce his running mate next year.”

I’ve noticed the glee with which the NPP, its surrogate newspapers as well as paid online portals are feverishly cooking up stories about who will be or not be JM’s running mate for the 2024 election.
Don’t be deceived. This is a plot to divert attention from the enthusiastic acceptance of JM’s proposals announced so far, including the 24-hour economy with 3-shifts in a secured and safe environment by providing participating companies with security patrols, tax incentives and cheaper power for night shifts through Time of Use (TOU) tariffs.
JM has said nowhere that his running mate will be male or female. Neither has he said anywhere to any group that he will go with or not go with his running mate for the 2020 election. What he has said is that he will announce his running mate next year.
