Asante Kotoko cruised to victory on match day 14 of the ongoing 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League season after beating sworn rivals Accra Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak, due to the decision of the National Sports Authority to give out the Accra Sports Stadium for musical concerts, played their home game against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, December 10, 2023.
The Phobians took the lead in the game through Linda Mtange in the 38th minute, but winger Isaac Oppong got the equaliser for the Porcupine Warriors just before the first half break.
Asante Kotoko returned for the second half as the better team, as Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala scored twice in the 56th and 75th minutes to give the Porcupines a big advantage in the game.
Hearts of Oak tried to fight their way back in the game, but Martin Karikari’s stoppage time goal was not enough to salvage a point for the Phobians, as Asante Kotoko finished the game with a 3-2 victory.
