Former Accra Hearts of Oak management member Farouk Al Wahab has described the club as a dead team with no proper direction to compete at the topmost level of African football.
Farouk Al Wahab said the Phobians have a huge recruitment problem because, after Mahatma Otto’s departure, Hearts of Oak, after sending numerous players, have failed to replace the striker with even a player who can produce one-third of that performance.
Speaking about the club’s struggles in the ongoing 2023–2024 Ghana Premier League season and the defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko in Kumasi on Sunday, December 10, 2023, Farouk Al Wahab said no technical person can revive a dead team.
“What is the recruitment driver for Hearts of Oak currently? Tell me which Hearts of Oak player has performed like Mahatma Otto in the last 10 years. If you can’t get a player like him or a team that can compete better, you can change the technical team on countless occasions, but it will not bring any results.”
“No technical team can revive a dead team, and no administration can revive a dead team. If we say a dead team, we are referring to the playing body, and Hearts of Oak has a huge problem in their playing body,” Farouk Al Wahab told Rainbow Radio Accra in an interview.
