Star Oil Company Ltd., a wholly Ghanaian-owned Oil Marketing Company (OMC), has celebrated a major success as the second-largest distributor of petroleum products in Ghana.
The company, which was incorporated on October 7, 1998, as a wholly Ghanaian-owned Oil Marketing Company (OMC), says it has chalked its success as an indigenous privately held OMC to this feat.
In a Facebook post, the company said it distributed 472.7 million litres of petroleum products in 2023.
It extended its gratitude to Ghanaians for believing in its brand.
The post read, “For the first time in the history of our country, an indigenous privately held OMC is the second largest distributor of petroleum products in Ghana.
Thank you for believing in the Star Oil brand. Thank you for believing in the ability of the Ghanaian (the Black Star) to manage his own affairs.
We are in this together, and we stand by our promise to give you quality and affordable fuels.”

Star Oil is the oldest independent oil marketing company in Ghana, without foreign or state involvement.
Since 1998, Star Oil has expanded and progressed steadily, and for more than two decades, the company has systematically implemented a programme to own and operate storage and marketing facilities in almost every district in Ghana, with 180 stations nationwide.
The goal of the company is to provide the best possible products to clients and to maintain personal and professional integrity. We are committed to maintaining our standards of service excellence and integrity at all times.
The vision of the company is to become the preferred oil marketing company, with strong representation in all districts of Ghana, offering quality and reliable products in a safe and conducive environment.
Its mission is to own and operate facilities for the storage, handling, and marketing of petroleum products in all districts of Ghana in the most efficient and cost-effective manner in order to realise a reasonable rate of return on investment.
