Dreams FC manager Abdul Karim Zito has said that he was not impressed with Chris Hughton’s substitution against Cape Verde in Ghana’s opening game in the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars on Sunday, January 14, 2023, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde to move to the 4th position on the Group B table.
Jamiro Monteiro and Garry Rodrigues scored the two goals in both halves for Cape Verde, while player of the match Alexander Djiku’s 56th minute goal was not enough to get a point for the Black Stars.
The team’s defeat has raised several questions, with many questioning coach Chris Hughton’s reading of the game, and Karim Zito believes that he got the changes wrong.
“As a coach, I still don’t understand the changes that Chris Hughton made in the game, but I also know that several things happen in the dressing room that we, the general public, do not know,” Karim Zito said in an interview with Rainbow Radio Accra.
The Black Stars on Thursday, January 18, 2024, will take on record holders Egypt in their second game of the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
