The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has stated that the party will have to meticulously police every ballot every stage of the counting process until the Electoral Commission declares the results.

The candidate stated that they will need to be cautious before, during, and after the 2024 elections, which will be unprecedented.

“I can assure you, that all of us will be polling agents and this election will be the most policed election in the history of our country” he said.

The former President, who was speaking at a community engagement event in Dodze, Ketu North Constituency, as part of his two-day tour of the Volta region, has reiterated his party’s position that the NDC will no longer use the Supreme Court to settle political disputes, but will protect every single ballot and collation at polling stations.

Mr Mahama, who is confident of a resounding victory, believes there is abundant evidence that the government is attempting to manipulate the process through the Electoral Commission (EC) in order to subvert the people’s will.

However, the NDC party will not sleep until EC Chair Jean Mensa, as he put it, ‘has the disagreeable responsibility’ of crowning the NDC the victor of the 2024 elections.
