Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has revealed the reason behind his decision to take out winger Osman Bukari minutes after Egypt’s second equaliser in the game at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
Osman Bukari, who was introduced in the game in the 73rd minute to replace Inaki Williams, was taken out in the 88th minute and was replaced by Joseph Paintsil after his mistake led to Mostafa Mohamed’s goal.
Reacting to the decision, Hughton told the press that he took out Osman Bukari because his mistake affected his contribution to the game, not because he was angry with the blunder he committed.
“After the mistake, sometimes your emotions can get hold of you, and we felt that the mistake, because it is an emotional game, we felt the mistake, and it affected him a little bit, so we decided to make the change.”
“This is nothing personal against anybody. We like him a lot, and this doesn’t go against anything that we think of him,” Chris Hughton said.
