The Ghana Health Service has signed a five-year G2G agreement with United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The partnership, worth $25 million, is targeted at improving the quality of primary health care delivery at community health facilities (CHPS) and health centres.
As part of the partnership, USAID will provide $18 million in funding while the GHS is expected to contribute $6 million over five years, both partners will also support 60 Networks of Practice (NoP) in the Western region and five northern regions of Ghana with essential equipment, training of health staff, and on-the-job supportive supervision to strengthen their skills.
The agreement will further aid the GHS in operationalizing its Planning and Budgeting Management Information System (PBMIS) and the Ministry of Finance in its Integrated Financing Management Information system.
In addition to the launch, 3 Yamaha motorbikes and a tricycle were donated to the Service for use by facilities within hard-to-reach localities to support service delivery.
