The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding primaries in constituencies represented by incumbent Members of Parliament today, Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Over 104 constituencies across the country will hold primaries for these elections.
In a media interview on Thursday, January 25, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated that the exercise was fully planned.
He stated that all preparations, including ballots and election materials, had been completed and were ready for distribution.
He stated that the party is optimistic about completing the exercise by 2 p.m.
“For now, I can tell you for sure that our primaries will come off on Saturday. Everything is set. Election materials including ballot papers and other accoutrements are ready to be transported, he said.
After vetting, 29 of the 373 aspirants who filed to contest the primaries will run unopposed, 11 were disqualified, two were referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC), two stepped down, one incomplete form, and two did not show up for vetting, leaving 326 qualified aspirants for the primaries.
