Founder of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, Patriot Ghana, Kwesi Korang, has cautioned the party members, particularly those managing the campaign of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to stop engaging in sycophancy and focus on issues that will make it easier to market him.
He said some people are behaving as sycophants because they believe they may get certain favours from the Vice President.
According to him, the party ought to focus on the achievements of President Akufo-Addo, the contributions of Dr. Bawumia, and his policies and vision for the country instead of the sycophantic behaviour of some of the party members.
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he explained that Ghanaians are looking forward to policies that will transform their lives, and the campaign must purposely be designed towards that.
“When we get before Ghanaians, we should tell them about our track record. What we have achieved and what we will do. When we are within our ranks, we can tout Bawumia as the incoming president. But when we get before Ghanaians, we need to get serious, avoid this kind of behaviour, and focus on the real issues.
The bootlicking is too much. We have a responsibility to campaign in a way that will convince Ghanaians to vote for us. So my suggestion is that the party must take steps to deal with these issues. These issues are difficult to talk about, but I have to talk about them,” he told host Kwabena Agyapong.
During the primaries, MPs, ministers, and appointees engaged in this kind of attitude. We are done with the process of electing our presidential candidate, and so this has to stop,” he stressed.
