The increase in the cost of passports is to fund Bawumia’s campaign – NDC Man

Seth Ankrah, a former candidate in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Bosomtwe parliamentary primary, claims that the recent increase in passport processing fees is being used by the ruling administration to fund Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.

He asserted that the party lacks the necessary resources to win the presidential race and has decided to run their campaign with state resources, and as a result, they are exploiting the rise in passport processing costs to fund their campaign.

The politician alleged that the government has planned to use these resources to finance the campaign by handing over tax payer money to the MPs to run their campaigns.

Seth Ankrah said the NPP has planned to monetize the 2024 general elections because they are aware they will lose them.

He noted that the NPP has lost touch with Ghanaians, and due to that, they have decided to do all they can to manipulate the electoral processes.

He lamented that Ghanaians are struggling to survive, and yet, this government, which promised us heaven on earth, has delivered hell.

When asked what evidence he has to support his assertions, he said, “Just remain calm and wait for the elections. You will see how the government will share money with Ghanaian voters. We should demonstrate against the increase in the cost of passports so that they will not have the resources to fund Bawumia’s campaign.

They have mismanaged the economy and made life difficult for Ghanaians. Due to that, they have realised that Ghanaians, especially the youth, want to travel abroad, which is why they have increased the cost of passports. They know a lot of people will apply for passports, and so they have turned their attention there to make money to fund the campaign of Bawumia”.

He stressed the need for Ghanaians to be bold and hold this government to account because their agenda is to retain power and not manage the economy better to transform the lives of the people.

He also advised voters to accept any amount of money the government will give them but vote against them.
