Founder and leader of Patriot Ghana, a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, has advised the communicators of the party to focus on the religious tolerance nature of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia instead of wasting their time insulting Alan Kyerematen.
Kwesi Korang praised the elephant family presidential candidate for his tolerant and religious unification qualities, stating he can unite Ghanaians regardless of their religious beliefs if elected president.
Dr. Bawumia, despite being a Muslim, possesses traits similar to those advocated for by Alan Kyerematen for a Christlike president, he said.
He stated that being a Christlike person is not only reserved for Christians.
He opined that Dr. Bawumia is a man of integrity; he is compassionate, has empathy for others, is filled with love, and most importantly, is not corrupt.
These traits, he said, are traits that followers of Christ possess.
To this end, he has challenged the communicators of the party to focus on these traits and use them in the campaigning and marketing of Dr. Bawumia so Ghanaians will appreciate them and vote for him.
He also asserted that just as it was not wrong for the former Trade Minister to have called on Christians to vote for him because he was one of them, it was not also wrong for Dr. Bawumia to also call on Muslims to vote for him.
He went on to state that Dr. Bawumia has over the years contributed to and participated in activities organised by the Christian community, and that alone affirms that he is a man who is capable of becoming president in a country dominated by Christians, although he is a Muslim.
He said the leaders of the various Christian groups and churches have always welcomed Dr. Bawumia with open arms and have not discriminated against him.
He emphasised the need for the party communicators to capitalise on this when campaigning.
“The NPP should accept that we have a Christlike candidate, and that is Bawumia. Although Bawumia is a Muslim, he is someone with Christlike traits. That is why I felt those who attacked Alan for making those comments were rushed. Bawumia is humble; Bawumia is a man of integrity; Bawumia fears God; he is not greedy; he is not a cheat. He is Christlike and possesses all these traits.
The fact that he is a Muslim does not mean he is not Christlike. A Christlike person is not a thief; they are someone who is not a cheat. He is the opposite of these bad traits. He is rather someone with the good traits of a Christlike person. We should accept this and move forward as a party.”
