Accra Lions defeated Bibiani Gold Stars in their match day 26 fixture at Accra Sports stadium, with Mohammed Yahaya scoring the first strike and Daniel Kwame Awuni adding a sensational goal.
In a post-match interview, coaches of both sides expressed their satisfaction with their respective teams’ performance, with Accra Lions’ Ibrahim Tanko being the first to respond.
“It was a good win for us. We missed a lot of chances but we are able to score two. I hope that we’re going to continue working so that we make good use of our chances”
Asked if their objective of sustaining their presence in the league changed looking at how well they have performed, he said: “We are taking it game by game. At the end of the season if we happen to be the first, second or third, that’s fine but their focus now is to take it game after game”.
When asked what has contributed to their unbeaten record in their last 5 home games the coach responded saying, “I think it’s a good performance by the boys. I think playing in your home is a bit easier and I pray it continues that way”.
Stephen Frimpong Manson, the coach for Bibiani Gold Stars believes his players lack the energy to run for 90 minutes.
“What we needed to do needs a lot of energy. We have been to Accra twice in a week and against a team that is good for holding the ball, you need a lot of energy to be in the game”.
Accra Lions will face Karela United at CAM Park on Saturday at 15:00 GMT, while Bibiani Gold Stars will host Aduana at Bibiani Dun’s Park on Sunday 21st at 15:00 GMT.
