The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has referred to President Akufo-Addo and his government, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as the devil.
The Deputy Minority Leader opined that just as the devil in the Bible came to steal and destroy, the Nana Addo-led administration was doing the same to the country.
He claimed that the country is in an economic disaster because this administration has mismanaged the economy through corrupt actions and plundered from the people with no regard for the bad consequences.
Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah emphasised that although elected leaders are expected to leave behind lasting legacies for the country and the people so they would be remembered for their efforts, this administration has destroyed everything they came to meet.
Speaking in an interview via Zoom on Rainbow Radio 92.4 FM, UK, the lawmaker decried how this government has destroyed all the gains made by former President John Dramani Mahama across the various sectors of the economy.
On the issue of energy, he said this government has not added a single megawatt of power to what it inherited; however, it has mismanaged the energy it inherited and plunged the country into another energy crisis.
He told host Dr. Ren that former President John Dramani Mahama resolved the energy crisis before leaving office through the number of investments and infrastructure projects he embarked on.
But this government, he stressed, has destroyed all these gains made in the energy sector.
According to him, the hardship Ghanaians are experiencing today is self-inflicted.
He indicated that it was not easy to resolve the crisis, but the visionary Mills-Mahama government was focused, and through the several investments made, it was resolved.
He said the Mahama administration brought in the Ameri Plant, the Karpowership, and others as part of the efforts to resolve the crisis, but today, the current administration has destroyed the gains.
He said aside from these, the Mahama administration, which faced the power crisis head-on, introduced the Energy Sector Levy (ESLA to address the legacy debts, crippling stakeholders in the value chain, and lobbied the US government for Compact II of the Millennium Challenge Account, $500 million to retool the ECG to reduce commercial losses affecting the company’s operations.
He assured that the upcoming NDC government, led by John Dramani Mahama, will effectively tackle the crisis due to his extensive experience.
He also slammed the government, accusing it of destroying cocoa, education, and all other sectors of our economy.
“This government is like the devil. It came to steal and destroy. It has been successful in erasing all gains made in every sector of our economy. I’m not only talking about the energy sector here. I’m speaking to all other segments of our economy. They’ve wrecked everything.
I informed President John Dramani Mahama that if he wins the 2024 presidential election, he will face Dumsor. But I assure the people that he will address the issue. He possesses the necessary abilities to resolve the dumsor. He’s done it before and will do it again.”
