A communications team member of Berekum Chelsea has appealed to football officials who would be assigned to officiate the game between them and Accra Hearts of Oak to maintain a high standard of officiating.
Speaking on Rainbow Sports, he said the game is a crucial one, hence the need for the officiating officials to demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
He indicated that they do not want the beauty of the game to be destroyed by bad officiating.
He said the expectation is that people will make positive remarks about the game and not focus on bad officiating.
He also advised supporters of the game not to engage in hooliganism or vandalism when they disagree with poor officiating but report the matter to the appropriate quarters for it to be dealt with.
“We are admonishing our supporters to desist from acts of vandalism and hooliganism during the game. If you have any issues about the officiating, you can report them to the police or any other official for appropriate action to be taken. We have heard a lot about the game, and we do not want this game to be marred by bad officiating.
That is why I am appealing to the officials to discharge their duties professionally. The two teams do not want to witness any form of poor officiating. We do not want people to abandon the beauty of the game and focus on poor officiating after the final whistle. We want people to leave the stadium after the game, commending the officiating officials.”
He went ahead to encourage football lovers,
particularly their supporters, to come and watch the match since the tickets are affordable.
He said security arrangements are intact and that they (supporters) should come and cheer their team on to victory.
He expressed optimism that Berekum Chelsea is well prepared for the game because they are far superior to Accra Hearts of Oak.
He said Berekum Chelsea lacks the logistics and resources Hearts of Oak have, but their side has performed better and is currently in better shape.
“Berekum Chelsea has prepared very well for this game because playing against Accra Hearts of Oak does not matter what the current state of the team is. We respect them, and we are preparing for them. We are assured that we will secure the maximum of three points while playing Hearts of Oak.
This is football, and they are rivals, not friends. Berekum Chelsea’s coach is responsible for winning the game. We lack the logistics and resources that Accra Hearts of Oak have, but we have outperformed them thanks to the efforts of our management team.”
