The Medical Laboratory Professional Workers’ Union (MELPWU) has announced a nationwide strike.
The Union said in a statement that the strike action will begin on Monday, June 17, 2024.
The strike action will affect services provided by their members in medical laboratories, blood banks, pathology laboratories, and selected mortuary facilities across the country, the statement disclosed.
MELPWU attributed its decision to embark on the strike to what it describes as prolonged delays by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Ministry of Finance in concluding negotiations with the union.
It said such actions undermine the labour-management relationship and necessitate decisive action.
