Yaw Acheampong, head coach of the Aduana Stars, believes the senior national side, the Black Stars, must qualify for the World Cup no matter what.
The team is currently transitioning from the most difficult stages and will surely triumph, he argued.
The coach was optimistic that we would emerge victorious and qualify for the World Cup.
Mr. Acheampong said “we are currently going through the most difficult stages, and after that, we will fully prepare for the tournament.
But for now, the target is for us to qualify for the World Cup. We therefore have to do our best and everything possible to qualify for the World Cup,” he said in an interview on Rainbow Sports.
He commended the technical team and the playing body for defeating the Central African Republic.
“I want to use this opportunity to applaud the technical team and the playing body, especially the technical team, for the wonderful work done. Through these games, coach Otoo Addo has demonstrated that he was prepared to work. Our recent two games show that Otoo Addo means business and knows why he is doing it. They have really done well. It is a collective responsibility, and we have to support him and the team.”
He also extended gratitude to the supporters who were at the stadium during our game with the Central African Republic to support the team.
He said that even at a point, when the team looked down, the supporters kept on supporting them till we defeated CAR.
He told Fantastic K.G. that our game against CAR was a difficult one for the senior national team.
Yaw Acheampong believes “the game was a tough one because CAR was very disciplined. They made the game difficult for us, but at the end of the day, I am happy we defeated them.”
