Legendary liar DMB is incurable; his claim that gov’t has given each SHS student a tablet is false – MP

Bawumia-sad

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South is after Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for claiming that the government has given each senior high school student in Ghana a free tablet.

Dr. Clement Apaak described the assertions as erroneous and stated that, when fact-checked, his claim was found to be untrue.

The lawmaker said in a post that even students in the 32 schools out of the 720 secondary schools selected to receive the tablets have not received their tablets.

He is therefore wondering why the Vice President, who is also the presidential candidate of the NPP, will use his campaign platform to peddle falsehoods.

During his youth connect in Kumasi, the Vice President disclosed that the government has distributed one tablet to each senior high school student in Ghana.

“Today, for every senior high school student, we have given them one tablet for free. One student, one tablet. We are the first country in the whole of Africa to give all our senior high school students tablets for free.”

But Dr. Apaak called the Vice President out for Miami g The afkse claim saying “The legendary liar is incurable! Even students in the 32 [of the 720] schools announced to receive the tablets in the so-called first phase have not all received the tablets. Yet DMB says every SHS student has been given a tablet. Na lie!”

It would be recalled that Dr. Apaak in March this year took on the government and described the launch of the ‘One Student, One Tablet ‘initiative by the government as a cheap attempt to hoodwink unsuspecting Ghanaians into voting for Bawumia in the general elections this year.

He slammed the government for failing to deliver the tablets for each Ghanaian student in both our basic and secondary schools; however, after seven long years in government, it has failed to deliver on this manifesto promise.

“Note, that per data from the Ghana Education Service presented to Parliament during the 2024 budget process, the total number of students in our public Senior High School (SHS) was given as 1,331,219 (1.3 million), while the total number of students in public Junior High Schools (JHS) stood at 1,448,896 (1.4 million). This brings the total number of students in our Senior and Junior High Schools to 2,780,115. What the NPP manifesto promised, was tablets for ALL students; which means tablets for 2,780,115 students in Ghana,” Dr Apaak wrote.

“After seven long years (and still counting) of failing to fulfill this promise, and now with only nine months to go to general elections, the failed Akufo-Addo/ Bawumia-led government has, through GETFUND, procured only 450,000 tablets for a total of 2,780,115 students. It is worth noting, that no provision has been made either in the 2024 budget, or the recently passed 2024 GETFUND formula to procure additional tablets.”
